I would like to welcome you to Valerie Grant Interiors. As with many businesses, the creation of my company developed out of a need and underlying passion. About 10 years ago, my husband and I decided to build a home in East Hampton. We wanted to create a home for our family, which spoke to who we are and how we like to live. We wanted our home to reflect our personal style. For my family and I, we like to be comfortable, casual, approachable and real.
So I began my home building and decorating journey. During this process, I realized that my 15+ year background in fashion (working as a Senior Merchandiser for Prada, Ralph Lauren, Coach, J Crew, Barney’s New York, Saks Fifth Avenue) crafted a skill set applicable to interior design. As with clothing and fabrics, I like to build, and layer, and mix textures and patterns, and create contrasts and complements, and add accents of color, and ACCESSORIZE.
After our beach house was completed, several guests asked for help with their own homes. I discovered that I could translate their personal style and needs into something beyond their expectations. Nothing makes me happier than when a client sees their newly designed home for the first time and says, “I can’t believe this is my house!”
People often ask what I like most about being an interior designer. The simple answer is that my work allows me to do something I love and am tremendously passionate about while creating homes for my clients that exceed their expectations. Following is a note from a client (handwritten and sent through the mail – no less!), which really touched me. And, I was equally humbled to have received the 2015 Best of Houzz award for Service.
